What is DNS propagation?

DNS propagation is the process of updating DNS zones all over the Internet. During the propagation time DNS servers throughout the Internet remove expired DNS records from their caches and, when requested, fetch them from the nameservers domains are pointed to. DNS propagation takes up 72 hours.
